Survivor: Toddler Island

It struck me, while the Biscuit was playing in the woods the other day, that he'd make a great contender on reality TV. Here's how he could outwit, outplay and outlast the best of 'em...

OUTWIT!
(You'll never know by his face what he's thinking or what he'll do next...)
toddler in the woods

(...and he can find his own way around to map out the lay of the land).
toddler crawling in the woods

OUTPLAY! (He doesn't need toys to have a ball...)
toddler smiling

(...and if it means jumping off a bridge to prove you're brave, he's got what it takes.)
toddler on bridge over creek

OUTLAST!
(He can start a fire with just a stick and his teeth....)
toddler with a twig in his mouth

(...and he's not afraid to eat ANYTHING - unless it's his own baby food).

Well, there you go...he's almost ready for the auditions ;) We still need to work on endurance though...specifically, when he can survive a whole night without waking up his tribe for milk, he can start working on his application ;)

You might be a lil' redneck if...

...you think eating "homestyle" at the Cracker Barrel means you should make yourself right at home in your high chair.

...your idea of a "time out" is relaxing in a college football rocker on the porch just your size.

...you can do a flawless deer call with only your tongue--a talent discovered accidentally through experimental razzing sounds.

...you know exactly which game fish says "meow."

...your idea of "Duck, Duck, Goose" involves handcrafted wooden decoys.

...you prefer a camping tent to your own playpen.

...you ask for REALLY expensive bath toys,

...and really SCARY pets!

...your new favorite color is camo green.

Okay, well, maybe I'm pre-judging my little Biscuit, but we all had a great time at the nearby sportsman's warehouse this weekend during the Hunter's Classic (free of course)! We especially recommend this exciting adventure to all the urban mommies and daddies out there!! :D

The Case of the Missing Cup: Episode 2

Status: Case Closed!

The perpetrator was apprehended shortly after the search resumed this morning!

The runaway cup was found wedged between the DVD player and the back of the inside of the entertainment center.

Sadly, my own hired eye has been implicated in the crime. He was brought in for questioning but pled the fifth.

I'm not accusing him before the trial but...just look that face.

The Case of the Missing Cup

Agent Biscuit, Spykid...
Well blog time today was cut short by Biscuit waking up from his nap after only 30 minutes. The rest of the day we spent looking for his sippy cup which has vanished off the face of the planet. I searched everywhere including down the stairs where he usually tosses most objects for entertainment; Double-O Biscuit was my personal PI to help track it down. We managed to find a few items of interest over the course of the search, including:

*my checkbook (didn't even realize this was missing until I found it under the couch)
* Big Biscuit's hacky sack
*a dirty spoon under the recliner (of course the investigator I hired to help me track down the cup wanted to stick said spoon in his mouth despite its not having seen the dishwasher in eons)
*an SD card for the camera
*Little Biscuit's toy cell phone

Unfortunately the fugitive cup remains at large and is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Anyone getting near it is in danger of being knocked down by the putrid smell of spoiled milk (you'd think this foul odor would give it away but this guy is clearly using some sort of cloaking device).

Here's a sketchy mugshot (but just to clarify, it's a cup, not a mug). It was last seen in the living room and is described as a green Nuby no-spill gripper); have you seen it? Please report any sightings before 7 am when I will have to close this case (and get a new cup).

Laughing babies make babies laugh :)

One of the latest fun activities we've discovered combines our mutual love of the laptop and great, clean comedy ;) It involves looking up silly stuff on YouTube :) Our favorite finds, hands down, include these three:

Be warned, if you watch these, get ready to CRACK up! Little Biscuit laughs just about as hard as the kids in the video just watching them (although he's only just getting into it in the little clip shown above where he's watching Ethan on YouTube.)

It's also fun to find videos of real animals making their actual sounds - here's:

some farm animals...
a crazy cat
a barking dog
a mooing cow
a quacking duck
an oinking pig
a bleating goat
a clucking hen...

and for the more exotic...

a laughing hippo
a herd of noisy elephants
a pack of roaring lions

you get the idea :D If there's a "real life" animal sound you want to hear you can probably find it at YouTube :)

Another fun site we like to visit (and Little Biscuit can actually punch buttons himself!) is Fisher-Prices Online Games & Activities - they have one for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Biscuit's fave is the jungle friends peek-a-boo game! :)

A week to remember :)

Well, it’s been something of a tough week with Big Biscuit in Mexico and Little Biscuit missing him on top of a nasty cold, so I wanted to write down some of the happier highlights to cheer us all up!

Okay, so here they are: the top 10 most memorable events of the past seven days around our
house:

10. In mid-preparation of applesauce meatloaf we realize we are out of eggs, necessitating a near- world-record-setting speed run to the store.

9. I decide to try out an unadjusted reel mower on our front yard during Biscuit’s naptime which
happens to be around noon (and yes, this is a Missouri summer).

8. Biscuit discovers the meaning of “slippery” while chasing the bar of soap around the bathtub.

7. Biscuit further discovers “slippery” as he goes headfirst down a slide for the first time.

6. Biscuit continues his new hobby of finding his belly button on command.

5. His next favorite hobby becomes looking for yours.

4. Biscuit gets the hiccups during lunch. Every time one hits (which is usually during a big, sloppy
bite of peas), he almost chokes laughing.

3. The homemade spicy sweet potato fries my sis tries to cook turn out to be, um, let’s say, very smoke-flavored sweet potato briquettes.

2. Biscuit jumps off his seat as an unexpected loud burp from his aunt scares him half to death; I’m not sure what was funnier - his initial shocked reaction or the 10 minutes of hysterical laughter (from both of them!) that followed.

1. Biscuit uses his newfound skill of pointing to acknowledge the cars beside us as we wait at a red light; unfortunately he only knows how to point with his middle finger.
